OVERVIEW:
Osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones wears down overtime. Eventually, the cartilage wears down completely and there will be bone on bone. It is commonly referred to as the “wear and tear” disease. Repeated stress on the joint, joint injuries, bone deformities, metabolic diseases and older age are all risk factors for developing this disease.

SYMPTOMS:
Symptoms tend to develop slowly, and usually worsens over time, or with age. The affected joints may cause pain when moving, or they may be stiff when inactive or after waking up. Joints can feel tender when applying a light pressure, and they may lose their range of motion. Bone spurs, which are extra bits of bone, can form around the affected joint and soft tissue swelling around the joint may be present. With our acupuncture treatments, we relax the nervous system while improving energy and blood flow.
