more about Breastfeeding Support

Every mother’s experience with breastfeeding is different. Whether this is your first baby or you have many, each baby is unique. Breastfeeding will be a learning process. At birth, your breasts will make a thick, yellowish substance called colostrum. Colostrum is packed with nutrients and other important substances that help your baby start building up his or her immune system. There will not be a lot of this liquid at first, but the amount will gradually increase over the first couple of days. Most babies will get all the nutrition they need through colostrum during the first few days of life. As you begin breastfeeding, your baby’s sucking will tell your body to start making milk. For most mothers, this thinner, whiter form of milk comes in by about 3 days after birth but may take longer for first-time moms. You may notice your breasts feeling full, hard, and warm as this happens. Your baby may begin to want to breastfeed more frequently around this time.

Some symptoms that may happen while breastfeeding are leaking, engorgement, sore/cracked nipples, pain while the baby is latching on and baby refusing to breastfeed. As they get a little older, they also can become distracted as your baby notices all the things around him/her. With our acupuncture treatments, we relax the nervous system, nourish hormones, balance emotions, along with improving energy and blood flow.

At Acupuncture Wellness Services, we use a combination of modalities and techniques to regulate the flow of energy in the body to achieve outstanding results.  The extensive training and experience of our practitioners enables them to successfully blend time-tested and ancient treatment protocols with modern and sophisticated therapies.  One of the greatest benefits of our procedure is the ability to detect and correct energetic sensitivities to foods and the environment that might be creating symptoms in your body.  Each patient is treated individually, and so the combination of techniques is determined at the time of evaluation.  Our treatments integrate well with western medicine, chiropractic, massage therapy, occupational therapy, dental work and nutritional healing.

“I came into the office in excruciating pain. I had a clogged duct in my left breast. The Acupuncture Wellness team was very knowledgeable and has treated this before, when I thought nobody was able to help me. They did everything to help me and I was able to continue breast feeding throughout my daughter young years.”
