OVERVIEW:
Asthma in children is a long-term lung disease which causes airways to become inflamed and narrow. This can lead to a variety of symptoms. When symptoms get worse than usual, this is called an asthma attack, or flare-up. In children who have sensitive airways, asthma symptoms can be triggered by breathing in substances called allergens or triggers.

SYMPTOMS:
Asthma has similar symptoms as other childhood conditions so it can be difficult to diagnose at first. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, they may happen often or occasionally. Common symptoms of asthma in children include, chest tightness, coughing - especially at night or early morning, breathing problems, feeling fatigued, dark circles under eyes, irritability, wheezing, or trouble eating. Asthma attacks can come on gradually or suddenly, and sometimes can be life threatening so receiving proper treatment is crucial.
